Southern Folk Pottery - the pottery listed on this page is made by contemporary folk artists working in the Southeastern United States. Many of these artists dig the clay, fire, and decorate the wares in the same manner of 19th century Southern folk potters. The public interest in pottery from this region has increased dramatically with the publishing of books on this subject matter as well as articles in such magazines as Smithsonian and Country Home.
